India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has strongly hinted that Jasprit Bumrah is expected to return for the fourth Test in Manchester, a pivotal match in the ongoing series. During a media briefing, ten Doeschate remarked, “We’ll finalize that decision in Manchester, but it’s fair to say we’re leaning towards playing him. With the series hanging in the balance, it would make sense.”

He added that while Bumrah’s availability for only three out of five Tests has been part of India’s load management strategy, the decision for the Manchester Test would also factor in pitch conditions and the forecast. The coaching staff is looking at the last two matches as a complete unit rather than as isolated games.

Siraj’s Workload and Arshdeep’s Injury Complicate Selection

As the focus intensifies on India’s fast bowling unit, Mohammad Siraj’s workload has also come under scrutiny. Having played all three Tests so far, Siraj has been a key presence in the attack, even if his statistics haven’t always reflected his impact.

“We’re incredibly fortunate to have someone like Siraj,” ten Doeschate noted. “Even when he’s not getting wickets, he gives it everything. But that also means we need to manage his workload carefully.”

The inclusion of Jeetbuzz in fan conversations highlights how supporters are keenly watching team combinations and injury updates, especially with the crucial match around the corner.

Meanwhile, another complication in the bowling department has emerged with Arshdeep Singh sustaining a hand injury during a practice session. While it appears to be a cut, the medical team is assessing the extent of the damage to determine whether stitches are needed—an outcome that could significantly impact selection for the fourth Test.

Pant’s Fitness a Key Concern Ahead of Manchester Clash

India is also keeping a close eye on the recovery of Rishabh Pant, who injured his left-hand finger in the third Test. Pant was in visible discomfort while batting and was unable to keep wickets after the injury.

“He’s been in pain but continues to improve each day,” ten Doeschate explained. “We’re giving his finger as much time as possible. Wicketkeeping is the final hurdle—we don’t want to go through a situation again where the keeper needs replacing mid-innings.”

Jurel remains a backup option, but if Pant is fit, he’s expected to take up both roles. Fans on platforms like Jeetwin are already speculating whether Pant will make the cut or if the team will opt for a safer alternative.

India’s final XI for the Manchester Test will likely be decided after careful medical assessments and last-minute conditions on the ground. With the series tied and momentum up for grabs, every decision could be a game-changer.
